Fork and Knife Magazine

Fork and Knife Magazine

If you want to make an event at your work very special, there is a good way to make it happen: you have to order very special food. Sorrel soup or cheesecake made of millet served with peaches would be just perfect! The first issue of the magazine “Knife and Fork” was published to help small non-governmental organizations develop their culinary ventures. Here you can find some recipes and catering offers from young vegan cooperatives, immigrants and ladies from small villages making a unique syrup from dandelion flowers. “Knife and Fork” is addressed to people organizing catering for big companies. Its goal is to promote alternative culinary ventures in the business environment. Communication had to be clear – it’s really cool to order pierogi from small unique entrepreneurs.

Our purpose was to design modern sophisticated culinary magazine which will be user-friendly. Leitmotif is stylized knife and fork which you can see in the whole publication. At the beginning, when you open the front cover, reader can see a tablecloth waiting for him to begin „the feast”. On the last page of the publication, cutlery are arranged like after finished meal (because reader finished reading). In the whole project there is a circle theme used for additional photos. It refers to the plate for. Layout is complex but flexible. It contains various amounts of columns and allows us to use different sized photos. Project is light and full of air – that is why you can see beautiful structure of uncoated paper Munken Print White. On the cover we combined simple, frugal in color photo and neon, fresh pantone. This pantone was also used on an inside of the cover. To emphasize humanistic, hand-made ethos of the presented products, we have chosen images showing hands of people who stand behind these creations.

“Fork and knife” Magazine will be published soon in “Food Book Design” – publication prepared by ImagesPublishing from Shanghai (avalaible in english and mandarin).
